NOREYA NEXUS UNITY is a project of NOREYA Technology e.U. which was founded in 2019 by Richard Schleich.
The beginnings of the project date back to 2016 when Richard Schleich experimented with the Raspberry Pi Compute Module and the topic of Smart Home became popular. As an embedded hardware and software developer who appreciates the benefits of open platforms and especially open source software, many difficulties arose in building a future-proof smart home.
While there were already some extensive open source projects trying to link the diverse smart home ecosystem, the hardware used (Raspberry Pi, USB dongles, IO-Hats…) was often not reliable, maintainable and compatible with each other.
Out of this problem a hobby project was born to develop a hardware based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module and to solve these problems. The electronics, firmware, drivers and the case were developed by Richard Schleich. Special thanks also go to Philipp Polzhofer who supported the project at times and planned and implemented large parts of the driver architecture.
At the beginning of 2019, the decision was made to become independent and Richard Schleich founded the company NOREYA Technology e.U. to offer hardware and software services and to bring the NOREYA NEXUS UNITY project to series production.
